Born in Western Australia to Polish parents, Konrad showed an early passion for American jazz. At just 15, he entered the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating with a jazz piano degree shortly after turning 19. He quickly became a leading jazz pianist in Australia, touring and playing with his mentor, James Morrison.
In 2009, he moved to the US on a scholarship to the University of Miami, earning his master’s by 22. He then spent a year in Los Angeles performing with groups like the Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra before moving to New York in 2012 to lead the house trio at 54 Below.
After a yearlong residency and two self-released trio albums, Konrad joined the John Pizzarelli Quartet in 2013, performing over 1000 shows worldwide in four years. In 2015, he became a Yamaha artist, and between 2016-2017, his trio recorded seven albums for Japan’s Venus Records. Since 2017, he has served as Artistic Director of Jazz at the Ballroom, championing swinging American jazz across the West Coast.
